I should probably read and reread this title every single day. My heart is hardwired to make life about me. But it’s not. I need the reminder often. As coaches, it isn’t, and can never be, about us. Everything we do needs to be about giving our players the best experience possible and forging them into the best version of them.

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” – Philippians 2:5-8

Coaches must humble ourselves daily. Our responsibility is too great to get caught up in how we look. We need to pray for, listen to, and ultimately love our players daily. Because the Son of God did that for us!
