Melody of Bono

1.25.21

Bono, the lead singer of U2, once said in an interview, “If you’re judging where we are by the fact that we can afford to buy this house or that house, it’s a dangerous measure. I judge where we are by how close we are to the melody I’m hearing in my head, and how close we are as band to realizing our potential.”

This world will always define success by results, by status, and by wealth. However, the author of Built to Lead, Chet Scott, has helped me understand that ultimately success is defined by the degree in which you live out your life’s purpose. Everything else is a dangerous measure. The melody in my head and my purpose in life is to glorify God by loving Him and loving others. It’s that simple. So as I live my life, I will always define success by how close I am to that melody I’m hearing.

Never stop chasing the melody you’re hearing in your head, and true success will follow you wherever you go!
