Jesus Wasn’t A Nice Guy

7.5.20

I think most of my life I have tried to hide behind the title of being a “nice guy” who does the right thing and just does what he’s told. And in many ways… I have. The problem is that this is not a true reflection of who I am or who God has created me to be. God put us on this eath to glorify Him, and to accomplish this properly, we have to be fierce, dangerous, and a warrior. If God is for it, someone will always be against it.

This is a contested world and I have a contested heart of sin. As Christian men, created in the image of God, we need to realize our strength and power that comes from walking with God through obedience and trust.

“It is the image of God reflected in you that so enrages Hell and the world; it is this at which demons hurl their mightiest weapons.” (Wild at Heart)

The fear of not being perceived as a “nice guy” has only caused me to live without authenticity in many ways. I have to shake this fear through unison with God. To glorify God, I’m going to have to speak up, stand up, and ruffle some feathers at times. Jesus did. He was on a contested mission like no other – He pissed people off and He still does. He was far from a “nice guy”.

“Let people feel the weight of who you are, and let them deal with it.” – John Eldrige

The beauty of living this out and tasting our strength, is that we will only crave more of the warrior life. So as my dad loves to say, “Game on.” … And talk about a warrior. Mark Lori is a badass.
