I think one of the greatest lies ever told is that the next season of life will be easier than the one we are in.
“I might have a little more money”
“I might have more free time”
“Maybe I’ll find the right girl”
“I’ll have more experience”
“I’ll know how to budget my time better”
Even if some of those are true.. It seems like a dangerous trap to fall into. There will be new challenges and new responsibilites. I know I find myself fighting those thoughts all the time. But our days on this earth our numbered and we can’t be arrogant enough to assume tomorrow will be there for us to change and finally become obedient.
Don’t wait for tomorrow to face the challenges you’re facing now, because that day isn’t promised. I pray this for me and anyone feeling like the next season of life will be better suited for us to be what we are called to be right now where our feet are:
“The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away. Who considers the power of your anger, and your wrath according to the fear of you? So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. Return, O Lord! How long? Have pity on your servants! Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.” – Psalm 90: 10-14
