Becoming Bo

1.26.21

I’ve always been very observant of what makes the heroes and role modes in my life the way they are.

How do they act?

What do they say?

What do they wear?

What makes them, well… them?

I have been so blessed in my life with many amazing role models and people to look up to. Whether it has been my dad & mom, my cousins Nick, Danny, Logan, and Jack, Travis Crane, or Tyler Pfister (just to name a few)… I’ve tried to take bits and pieces of them and be an imitator. I’ve done this my whole life – as a young kid and now as a coach. Being an imitator of those who model the way of life at the highest level isn’t a bad thing. You can probably see shades of the names above in me, and I’m proud of that. Becoming more like your hero is a wonderful aspiration to have. However, Jesus has a different effect on my life.

Jesus is different in that the more I observe Him, get to know Him, and strive to be like Him, He makes me more like the Bo Lori I was created to be. Imitating others just makes me more like them, good or bad. Knowing and growing in the love of Jesus makes me more like me, and more like the Bo I’ve always wanted to be and dreamed I would be – because I was created and hand crafted in the image of God. So were you.

Michelangelo once said, “I saw an angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” The more time I spend with the Artist of me, the more time He has to carve me into who I was created to be.
