3.4.21
In our very first staff meeting, back in August, the first thing Coach Myers said to us was, “I want this staff to be a light in this world.” So as the Volunteer Assistant at Ohio State, the first note I ever wrote down in my red Five Star notebook was: Be a LIGHT. In a broken, hurting, and dark world, Coach recognized it needed more light. So that was his first challenge to our staff.
My one word for this year is HOPE. I chose this word for many reasons, but the idea was sparked by a quote I heard from Dabo Swinney, “If there is hope in the future, there is power in the present.”
This morning I was driving into work, and it hit me that you need electricity and power to turn on light. Crazy right? The thing I love about light is that it ALWAYS conquers darkness. Always. When you open a door to a dark room, light floods in, darkness doesn’t seep out. Light conquers darkness. So in order to be a light in a dark world, I will rest in the HOPE I have in Jesus, knowing it will provide the power to turn on the light in me every day.
