I’ve heard it said that the sin God hates the very most, is pride. Pride might be the thing that most effectively makes us feel distant from God. It ruins our ability to be in a personal relationship with Jesus. Similarly, the number one killer of a team is pride & ego. Number one – without a doubt. Thinking you are above something or someone can harm teammates and relationships in a major way.

Egos must be dealt with immediately and thoroughly. If pride starts with even just one person, it has the power to infiltrate and poison an entire program. Almost all negative facets of a team can be traced back to pride somewhere. All parts of selfishness, carelessness, laziness, hostility, impulsiveness, jealousy, pessimism, self-indulgence, and being stubborn all stem from pride in some way, shape, or form.
